Marvel’s “Black Panther” will be the first of many great movies to come in 2018.

2017 is basically over. After the release of “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” there isn’t any new movies to look forward too. 2017 has had a rather fulfilling list of movies with films like “Wonder Woman,” “Thor: Ragnarok,” and Disney’s newest animated feature “Coco”. But looking at what’s in store for us in 2018, one can’t help but be excited for the new year. These are to top 10 movies to look out for in 2018.

     1. ”Black Panther” (Feb. 16)

After his debut in 2016’s “Captain America: Civil War” people have been excited to see what the Black Panther, played by Chadwick Boseman, can do in his own movie. Set in the fictional nation of Wakanda, the Black Panther is the cat-themed protector and king of his people and will stand up to anyone who threatens them and the rest of the world. Set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it is guaranteed to be an spectacular, superhero filled adventure.

     2.  “Pacific Rim: Uprising” (Mar. 23)

An unexpected sequel to 2013’s “Pacific Rim” that pitted giant humanoid robots called Jaegers versus terrifying giant monsters called Kaiju, will be coming to theaters next year. It continues the story by following the son of one of the main characters Stacker Pentecost, played by Idris Elba. His son Jake Pentecost, played by John Boyega, has to take command this time and fight against the returning threat of the Kaiju.

     3. “Super Troopers 2” (Apr. 20)

This is a completely crowdfunded sequel to the 2002 original. This movie raised over $4.6 million on indiegogo.com and is finally coming out in 2018. The original movie is a comedy about a group of state troopers that just drink beer and mess around all the time. This one will be continuing the adventure with the entire original cast of main characters coming back to play their parts.

     4. “Avengers: Infinity War” (May 4)

With the recent trailer drop for this movie everyone is excited for “Avengers: Infinity War”. Just like the last 2 “Avengers” movies this one is bringing all of the Marvel Cinematic Universe characters together for their toughest fight yet, against the ultimate super villain Thanos. Everyone’s favorite heros, Iron Man, Captain America, Hulk, Thor, Spiderman, they’re all going to be there.

     5. “Solo: A Star Wars Story” (May 25)

After the success of 2016’s “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” I have faith in another stand-alone Star Wars movie, especially when it focuses on the origins of the lovable space smuggler Han Solo. Unfortunately they can’t have the original actors for Han Solo and Lando Calrissian since they’re too old, but hopefully the new cast can bring the Han Solo that we all know and love back to the big screen.

     6. “Deadpool 2” (June 1)

Ryan Reynolds returns as the titular anti-hero in the next installment of the Deadpool series. The first movie surprised everyone that an R-rated superhero movie can actually work. With all the love and support the first movie got the director is upping the ante for the sequel. New characters from the Deadpool universe like Cable and Domino will be making their first appearances in this vulgar sequel.

     7. “The Incredibles 2” (June 15)

Almost nothing is known about the movie yet, but fans of the original have been waiting over 13 years for this sequel to come out. “The Incredibles” is my personal favorite Disney Pixar movie. It tackles much more adult topics than the usual kids animated film with an entire cast of lovable, fleshed out characters.  I can not wait for this to hit theaters.

     8. “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom” (June 22)

Another movie with very little information about it. The first “Jurassic World” was a huge call back to the original series. This movie should be expanding on the dino-filled world that many have come to enjoy.

     9. “Mission: Impossible 6” (July 27)

There are not a lot of movie series that have 5 installments and have them all be good. The “Mission: Impossible” series is one of those few. If they keep up their current track record then the 6th movie will be just as fun as the others. Tom Cruise is returning to his role as Ethan Hunt and even though he’s 55 he’s still got some moves.

     10. “Creed 2” (Nov. 21)

After training under Rocky Balboa in the first movie, Apollo Creed’s son,  Adonis Johnson will finally face the ultimate challenge. He will go face to face with the man that killed his father, Ivan Drago. This will be the ultimate revenge story.
