The much-anticipated “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” sequel kicks off a summer of blockbuster films.

With summer basically here, the huge Hollywood blockbusters have started to roll out. A lot of good movies are set to rake in the big bucks at the box office. These are going to be 10 of some of the biggest and best movies coming out in 2017’s summer.

1. “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” (May 5)
Starting off the list is the sequel to the Marvel movie that took everyone by surprise. 2014’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” was a huge success with more than $770 million in box office sales. Vol. 2 will continue the story of Peter Quill, played by Chris Pratt, and the other Guardians as they continue to protect the galaxy from tyrannical space villains.

2. “Alien: Covenant” (May 19)
This is an unexpected continuation of the long running “Alien” franchise. Not counting “Prometheus,” a sort-of prequel to the original “Alien” movie, “Alien: Covenant” will be the first continuation of the franchise since 1997. While unclear when exactly it will take place, the movie goes back to the sci-fi thriller style that the first movie was known for.

3. “Baywatch” (May 25)
A reboot of the original 1989 TV show of the same name, “Baywatch” seems like it’s going to be a standard, over-the-top action movie. The big difference is this movie stars Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron as the muscle bound lifeguards trying to stop criminals from smuggling drugs through their beach. It’s going be a fun action comedy movie with some big name actors at the helm.

4. “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales” (May 26)
While people might not be chomping at the bit for another “Pirates of the Caribbean” movie, Johnny Depp’s character, Captain Jack Sparrow, is the best part of that series. This means as long as he’s in the movies, people will come to watch his wacky antics.

5. “Wonder Woman” (June 2)
Wonder Woman was the best part of the recent, and rather bad, Batman/Superman crossover movie but her part was small and un-important. So now that she is getting her own movie, she finally gets a chance to show everyone what she is really made of. Played by Gal Gadot, “Wonder Woman” is looking to be one of the best up and coming DC Comic movies.

6. “The Mummy” (June 9)
The only remake on this list, it’s based on the the 1999 movie of the same name. While the movie doesn’t look like it will be winning any Oscars, it’s going to be a fun action thriller about an ancient mummy taking trying to over the world. It also stars Tom Cruise as the main actor. Cruise is still a powerhouse actor and will definitely bring in views.

7. “Cars 3” (June 16)
“Cars 3” continues the story of Lightning McQueen, voiced by Owen Wilson, as he has to deal with becoming an older, outdated model of car in a world full of futuristic, high-tech racing machines. This movie’s story is going to be one of its strong points as McQueen struggles with the reality of being unable to keep up with the best anymore.

8. “Transformers: The Last Knight” (June 23)
“The Last Knight” will take a different tone compared to the previous four movies. Instead of the intergalactic battle between the righteous Autobots and the evil Decepticons, war between the humans and robots has erupted. It’s also has Optuimus Prime, hero of the Autobots, now killing his own friends for some unknown reason. It going to be an expensive, explosion, filled action movie that Michael Bay is known for.

9. “Spider-Man: Homecoming” (July 7)
Homecoming is going to be Spiderman’s third shot at the big screen after being portrayed by Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield. The newest actor, Tom Holland, will be the youngest actor to portray the web-slinging super hero. And after his debut in “Captain America: Civil War,” Holland shows the he can handle the responsibility of being one if the most popular superheroes of all time. This will also be the first “Spiderman” movie to be part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

10. “Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets” (July 21)
Based on the graphic novel, “Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets” is going to be this summers sleeper hit. It may seem like another generic sci-fi action flick, but this one is going to surprise everyone. After thousands of years of galactic peace, something threatens to destroy it all. It is up to Valerian and his partner, Laureline, to uncover who’s behind it all.

The summer of 2017 is going to be a packed one. These may be the 10 most anticipated but there are still many not listed. But if you only have time for 10, it’s recommended that you stick to this list.
